Callander Trossachs - a Town and Area Guide

Callander - the Rob Roy CentreCallander

Callander is the gateway to the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, in the midst of wonderful scenery of mountains and lochs. It also has the advantage of providing the widest choice of accommodation, eating places and shops in the National Park.

Callander is situated on the A84 road from Stirling to Oban approximately 14 miles from Stirling. (map)

The cities of Glasgow and Edinburgh are easily reached by car in just over an hour, or by rail from Stirling or Dunblane in about the same time. A frequent bus service operates from Stirling to Callander and also beyond Callander to Oban and Fort William.

Callander is a very popular, but peaceful holiday destination, and has been a popular holiday spot since the opening of the old Oban railway line in the time of Queen Victoria. Close to Strathyre and aberfoyle in the trossachs it's well worth a visit.
